Senior-led programme governance consulting for major ERP, HRIS, and AI transformations. Independent of the platform vendor, independent of the system integrator, structurally aligned with your outcome.
A programme governance consultant designs and operates the structures, decisions, and accountability that hold a major programme to its business case.
In every major programme there are four parties at the table. The client. The platform vendor. The system integrator. The independent advisor. Three of those four have a commercial stake in the platform being selected, expanded, or retained. Programme governance is the fourth seat. Independent, client-side, and structurally aligned with the outcome.
Rydel Group occupies that fourth seat. We are a Brisbane-based independent firm with engagement experience across Australia, New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific region, and global programmes spanning Singapore, Japan, the Philippines, and multinational mining operations.
Programme governance consulting is rarely engaged at the convenient moment. By the time it is needed, it is usually overdue. The patterns below are the three most common triggers we see in Australia.
Before a vendor is selected. The cost of governance designed at this stage is a fraction of the cost of remediation later. Governance designed before the contract is signed shapes the contract.
When the sponsor wants an independent read. RAG ratings have stabilised at amber. Decisions feel filtered. The system integrator's reporting and the actual programme health no longer feel aligned.
When the programme delivered the platform but not the benefits in the business case. The organisation needs an independent perspective on what changed, why, and what to do next.
Programme governance is the discipline of using the framework, not the framework itself. The five patterns below separate governance that drives outcomes from governance that produces meeting minutes.
Every Rydel engagement is led by a senior practitioner. We do not staff teams of juniors against the work. We do not bill for resources who learn on the engagement.
Engagements are time-boxed and shaped around the outcome the client needs, not the hours we want to bill. The commercial structure is designed to reward independence. We carry no platform commissions and no system integrator referrals.
If you want a deeper view, see the Governance and Advisory service page, the How We Work overview, or the article on what a steering committee should actually do.
A programme governance consultant designs and operates the structures, decisions, and accountability mechanisms that hold a major programme to its business case. The role covers the steering committee, the programme board, decision rights, escalation paths, vendor accountability, and assurance. The work is independent of the platform vendor and the system integrator.
There are three common triggers. Pre-implementation, before a vendor or system integrator is selected. Mid-programme, when a sponsor wants an independent read on whether the governance in place is actually working. And post-go-live, when the programme has delivered output but not the benefits the business case promised.
The system integrator is contracted to configure and deploy the platform. Their commercial interest is in the platform being implemented. A programme governance consultant is engaged on the client side, with no commercial stake in the platform. The role is to govern the programme, hold the system integrator to its commitments, and ensure decisions are made in the client interest.
Decisions are made within the meeting cycle and documented with rationale. Reporting is challenged, not accepted at face value. Escalations are resolved within one cycle, not parked. The business case is reviewed every meeting against actual progress. And vendor performance is scrutinised from the client side, not just self-reported by the vendor.
